Hi Bryan Ive just completed a canisterectomy on my 2019 KTM 690 using the Rottweiler Kit.. With the fuel breather hose now hanging down as you would expect it drops fuel if I over fill the tank or drop the bike on its side (it keeps poring out).
RiverRunner. Posted June 29, 2015. We rode 690's at a factory ride at a local dealer. Ktm brought in a Semi of 690's, 1190's and a 1290 I think. I too thought the low end was gutless and the front end wondered. Everyone told me the bikes if set up correctly had great low end punch and were solid on the front end.

nikoloco. I believe that all 690's post 2012 have a larger displacement motor (a true 690), up from 654 cc for the 08-11 model years. Once again, I am not 100% sure of this, but I believe there were no models of the "690 SMC" produced after 2011, because it became the "690 SMC-R".

Hello. I have a 2018 690 Enduro that has almost 3000 miles on it so far. Since the beginning, I've always had to add oil every few rides. I fill it up so the oil is in the correct spot in the viewing window and then after a few rides it goes down past the bottom of the window.
From the KTM service manual: Spring rate of the shock spring: soft = 66 N/mm = 377 lb/inch. standard = 72 N/mm = 411 lb/inch. hard = 81 N/mm = 463 lb/inch. BTW, most of you have been mixing units of kg/mm and N/mm, which are not equivalent. One kilogram at sea level weighs approximately 9.8 Newtons. j.
Of course, your engine light will turn on in case there's a malfunction. However, it can't pinpoint the exact component that is to blame. Moreover, the KTM 690 engine light has been known to act up, so this might not help you much. We mention these symptoms because the early KTM 690 models (2013 - 2014) sported unreliable pins in their rocker arms. DrKayak. Oil change every 10k km( i prefer every 5k). Check for oil level cause the engine eats oil. Clutch slave cylinder have issues, but changing it for a oberon solves everything. Also fuel pump is known to fail. So have a spare one with you for longer trips can save you.
